COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

FRYING:
#1 Method:
Place small amount of either shortening, bacon drippings or rendered ham fat in a pre-heated (medium heat) electric or heavy skillet at 350 degrees. Add the steaks and cook slowly, turning 3 or 4 times until slightly browned, about 3-4 minutes.

#2 Method:
Pre-heat electric skillet at 350 degrees or use a heavy skillet over medium heat. Cover bottom of skillet with water, add 1 tablespoon honey and mix thoroughly. Place steaks in skillet and cook slowly, turning 2 or 3 times for 2 to 3 minutes or until slightly browned.

RED-EYE GRAVY:
Use frying method #1: After taking out the ham steaks, add a little water or coffee to the skillet drippings and simmer about 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Spoon gravy over ham, hot biscuits or grits.

TO MICROWAVE:
Slices can be cooked in package after puncturing 2 to 3 times with a fork or cut 1/2 inch slit in top of package. Microwave on high for 2 min. 15 seconds. Turn package once during cooking. To reheat, cover with clear plastic wrap. Heat 45 seconds on medium setting. Drain excess grease before serving.
